GFAB assessment data processing notice

Version: 2026.1-assessment · Effective: 26 October 2026

This notice explains what happens to your assessment responses. It adds detail to the privacy notice, which covers how we protect, share and keep your data.

1. What is processed

  • Your answer to each situation.
  • The confidence level you give for selected situations.
  • Any review flags you set.
  • The time you spend on each situation.
  • The times you started and submitted.

2. How your result is produced

Scoring is automatic and follows fixed rules. No person changes your score, and no AI system scores your answers.

  • Judgment score. Each answer is compared with GFAB's reference responses and can earn full or partial credit; for ranking situations, credit depends on the order you choose. Your results are reported across eight areas of professional judgment and combined into an overall index.
  • Confidence alignment. For selected situations, GFAB compares the confidence you gave with how often your chosen answers match the reference responses. This shows whether you tended to be more or less confident than your answers supported. It is reported separately and does not change your judgment score.
  • Reasoning observations. Some answer options are linked to recognisable patterns of reasoning. Where your answers show a consistent pattern across enough situations, your report describes it in plain terms ("You tend to…"). If the evidence is mixed or insufficient, no observation is shown.
  • Professional context. Your role, experience and other practice details are never used in scoring. If you choose to include them, they appear in a separate panel of your report.

The reference responses, partial-credit values and reasoning links for GFAB 2026 were approved internally by GFAB's experts. They have not yet been independently validated, and no population norms are available. Your result describes your responses against GFAB's current scoring framework. It is not a measure of competence, a qualification or a ranking.

3. Checks before release

When you submit, your result is checked automatically. A result with no integrity concern is released to you straight away. A result may be held for review by our team if there are signs that the attempt was not completed independently or that a technical problem affected it. The terms explain how a held or invalidated result is handled and how you can ask for reconsideration.

4. Your report

Your report is prepared automatically from your released result, normally within minutes. The personal explanations in your report (what your results mean for your clients, your strengths, your focus and suggestions to try) are written with the help of an AI service. It receives your overall index and your results for each judgment area, your confidence results, our approved observations and, only if you chose to include it in your report, your role, experience band, years in practice, specialties, practice type and client segment. It never receives your name, email, credentials or answers. It does not score you: your results are fixed before it is used, and the report states when AI-assisted explanations were used. If the service is unavailable, the report uses our own pre-written explanations.

5. Use to improve GFAB

We analyse assessment data in aggregate and de-identified form to:

  • see how each question performs;
  • check that questions work fairly for advisers in different roles, regions and practice types;
  • prepare the independent validation planned for future editions.

These analyses never produce a decision about you and never identify you in anything we publish.

6. What we keep

Your responses and result are kept while your account is open. If you delete your account, your identifying details are erased, and your assessment record is kept only in a form that no longer identifies you, so that past results and aggregate statistics remain consistent.
